LinkedIn Activity Cleaner ("the extension") is a browser extension developed by Vortex that helps you bulk-delete your own LinkedIn posts, comments, reposts, likes, and saved items. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what data the extension touches, why, and what we never do with it.

What the extension actually does

The extension runs inside your browser and only activates on linkedin.com pages you already have open and are logged into. When you choose to remove items, it reads the relevant page content (for example, your list of posts or comments) directly in your browser to find and act on the items you selected, using your existing LinkedIn session. It does not ask for your LinkedIn username or password, and it never sees or stores your LinkedIn credentials.

Data we access, and why

Your LinkedIn activity (posts, comments, reposts, likes, saved items)
Read directly in your browser via the extension's content scripts, only on linkedin.com, only to find and remove the items you ask it to remove. This content is processed locally and is never sent to us or to any third party.

Your Chrome profile email address
The extension reads the basic email associated with your Chrome profile (via the identity / identity.email permission) for one purpose only: to enforce the free plan's daily limit (10 removals per day) at the server level, so it can't be bypassed by clearing local browser storage. This email is sent to a small server we operate (a Cloudflare Worker) solely to count and reset your daily usage. We do not use this email for marketing or newsletters, we do not sell or share it with advertisers or any third party, and we never request or access your Google account password or any other Google account data.

Your Gumroad license key (Pro users only)
If you purchase Pro and enter a license key, that key is sent directly to Gumroad's official license-verification API to confirm it is valid and active. We do not process or store your payment card details — checkout and billing are handled entirely by Gumroad under its own privacy policy.

Local settings and usage count
Your preferences, daily usage count, and license status are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API, so the extension remembers them between sessions. This local data stays on your device.

What we don't do

We don't run any analytics or advertising SDKs inside the extension. We don't read your LinkedIn messages, connections, or profile data beyond the specific activity type you ask the extension to scan. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We don't track you across other websites.

Why the extension requests each permission

storage — save your settings and usage count locally. scripting and activeTab — run the removal tool on the LinkedIn tab you're currently using, only when you trigger it. alarms and power — keep a bulk-removal job running reliably in the background without your computer sleeping mid-task. offscreen — a technical mechanism (a silent, inaudible audio tab) that keeps the extension's background process alive during long bulk operations; it does not record or access audio input. identity / identity.email — described above, used only for free-tier daily-limit enforcement.

Data retention and control

You can clear all local data at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage from Chrome's extension settings. To have your email removed from our daily-limit tracking server, email us and we'll delete that record.

Children's privacy

LinkedIn Activity Cleaner is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the minimum age required to hold a LinkedIn account.

If our data practices change, we'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
